Desolation Americana: Detroit and Pennsylvania

Up to now we've been focused on the former Soviet Union, but desolation isn't unique to the lands of the CCCP. In fact, many places in the USA fall into this category. One wonders if this is, perhaps, a sign of things to come...

Urban Ghosts Media recently published a fantastic collection of desolation in Detroit, which make me pretty much want to go there right now. SEE THEM HERE.

While most people have heard of Detroit, what do most people know about rural Pennsylvania? With the exception of those who live there, I'm guessing most people know little to nothing about rural PA. Christine Hrichak recently bicycled along an abandoned stretch of highway through rural PA. She blogged about her trip here, and her full set of photographs can be seen here.

  1. Thanks for the post. I had never seen this tunnel's picture before. You may also visit the countries of South East Asia as they are really amazing and full of surprises of nature specially Cambodia.
